seventeen weeks!

This weeks photo comes to you from Savannah, Georgia! I was honored to be part of one of my very good friends wedding weekend. Baby Gordon got it's first taste of southern food (a lot of it!) and mama got a dose of what it's like to be the only sober person at a wedding.  It actually wasn't near as bad as I expected and for the first time ever I think I woke up every morning feeling a tad bit better than my husband. It was such a beautiful weekend and we were glad to be a part of it! Now back to reality and probably a good thing because this mama is tired!

We had our 17 week appointment last Thursday and everything looked great! For all of you wives tale believers-baby's heartbeat was 145 (160 last time). We've had lots of guesses as to what we are having. All I can tell so far is that it's either a boy or a girl.  ;)

XO!

Fun Fact: Baby G is starting to accumulate some fat and is the size of your hand spread open.
Things to Note: Midwife has confirmed that there is only baby in there. No twins....sorry, Emma!

sixteen weeks!

My belly is definitely starting to stretch and I'm noticing some uncomfortableness when trying to sleep at night. I've been paranoid about sleeping on my back due to some of the reading I've done, so I'm waking myself up all night to make sure I'm sleeping on my side. After talking to one of my experienced preggo friends (thanks, Justine!), my mind was put to rest that I should not be obsessing about this! Phew. So now that I'm not thinking about it so much , I'm finding myself a little more at ease when falling asleep and I even woke up this morning on my side. Bonus!

Fun Fact: Although I haven't felt anything yet, Baby G is starting to move around in there! I picture it to look like a little bubble bouncing back and forth (hence the illustration in my weekly photo).
Things to Note: I signed up for BabyQ this week. It is a program developed by two West Michigan doctors to promote healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. It has been an awesome resource for things I can be doing weekly to improve my diet, exercise, etc. I downloaded the app to my phone, so each morning I get a message of one thing I can do to improve my "BabyQ score." You can check it out at babyq.com if you're interested.
** This week I can't help but feel super sad for all of those involved in the Boston bombing. I'm trying to stay positive, but it is so scary to think there are such crazy people out there that can change any of our lives in a matter of seconds. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people affected by this unexplainable crime, I cannot imagine what they are going through.

fifteen weeks...

I'm beginning to understand the "awkward belly stage." Is she pregnant or just gaining some weight? If I'm going to be completely honest, when in public I push my stomach out as far as I can just to reinforce that I am in fact pregnant and not just taking down too many oatmeal cream pies ;) Aside from the public awkwardness, it has been super fun seeing my stomach grow. Every time I put on something new I find myself telling Andy "look at my belly in this!"

Things to Note: I found out my very good friend from high school is expecting her second baby around the same time we are! Super excited for them and can't wait to force our kids into becoming (long-distance) friends! I also have a new found love for lemonade. Not sure if it's a craving or solution to this non-drinking phase in my life. Either way, I highly recommend trying some lavender infused lemonade this summer. YUM!

fourteen weeks...

Well people, we've officially got a bit of a baby bump!  No maternity cloths yet, but I'm definitely lovin' on the abundance of black in my current wardrobe and planning to wear my "go-to" H&M jeans until I cannot possibly fit into them any longer. I've already tested out the unbuttoned method and it seems like it will do the trick to get in an additional week or two of wear when the time comes. How long do you think I'll be able to keep squeezed into these things? My hope is 27 weeks...am I crazy?!

In other news, this week was nearly headache free! I've been drinking water like it's going out of style-resulting in you can only imagine how many trips to the ladies room throughout the day. But I'll take bathroom breaks over headaches any day. I'm still doing yoga and my weekly PiYo class at work. This is my favorite class and I'm planning to do it as long as I can. I did the class fine this week right up until the very end. Then I think Baby Gordon was giving me a sign that it was too much moving around for his/her liking. I'll spare you the details, but I think I'll work in some modifications next week for all of the up and down in our strengthening portion of the class.

Fun Fact: Baby Gordon weighs as much as a pencil and has the ability to suck his or her thumb!
Things to Note: I've started looking at nursery furniture and am completely overwhelmed with the 100 different visions my brain has come up with. It's a good thing we've got awhile.....I'm going to need Grandma Lulu to get out here and help me pull everything together.

It's official...

Baby Gordon is on the way and will be making an appearance this fall! Andy and I could not be more thrilled. We feel so lucky to have such amazing people in our life who have already shown so much love and support. Since we don't get to see a majority of our family and friends on a regular basis, this blog is meant to be a way for people to keep up with us on this exciting journey.  Feel free to comment, text, email or even call (yes, I said call) to catch up! We'd love to hear from you. XO

thirteen weeks...

Into the second trimester and feeling great! I was prepared for the worst in terms of morning sickness and I have been pleasantly surprised. Sure I've had a couple crappy mornings, but I can count them on one hand. Afternoon headaches are becoming frequent so I am trying to drink more water and I am super sleepy! Naps are definitely making their way into my after work schedule. I fight them on a daily basis, given my need to be on the go all the time, but I am finding them hard to resist these days.

Fun Fact: Baby is the size of a peach and male or female organs are distinguishable!
Things to Note: We were able to hear the baby's heartbeat at our last appointment and we've started telling people the big news!
